After taking the film world by storm in his colourful Quickgun Murugun avatar, veteran actor Rajendra Prasad is all set to surprise once again.
But this time he is losing his comic side. The 210 film-old actor will be seen in a "medical thriller" titled "Dream", which is touted to be the first of its kind in Tollywood. Prasad plays a retired Army officer who is going through a peculiar phase in his life.
"The movie is a journey into the protagonist's mind," says debutant director Bhavani Shankar whose script impressed Rajendra Prasad so much that he agreed to do the movie almost instantaneously.
The actor is excited about his new avatar. "If all the 200-odd movies I did are on one side, this is on the other side, holding its own," says Rajendra Prasad, adding that he is thrilled about the way he has been styled in the movie.
The actor has four distinct looks in the film. "There were moments of hesitation, especially when it came to the African braid look and the rocker look. But Rajendra Prasad is a director's actor. He believes in giving you the freedom and letting you be. When he understood why each of his four looks was important to bring out different personalities of his character, he agreed to experiment," says Shankar, who first shot to fame when he won a national award in 2009 for "I vote for", a short film. "The only challenge was to keep him from slipping into his comic moods, since all his movies have been comedies," he quips. The director, who plans to take this film to international film festivals, including Cannes, roped in stylists who have worked on Big B to style Rajendra Prasad. And once the Telugu version is out, talks are on to make it in Bollywood too.
