Niharika (Charmi) is a journalist who wants bring up a sensational story and tries to shoot all the illegal activities in the city at night. She names her program ‘Nagaram Nidra Potunna Vela’ and starts to explore the nightlife in the city. She comes across corrupt cops, drunkards, prostitutes and what not? She also meets an awara named Siva Ram Prasad (Jagapathi Babu) on the way.

Niharika also accidentally shoots the talk of a political leader who wants to become CM by killing innocent people on her pen camera. The men of that politician are after Niharika to kill her and get back that pen camera. Siva Ram rescues her on few occasions but she will be left all on her own towards the end. What does she do to bring the change in the society is the climax.

Analysis:Director tried to showcase the current day political system and how the greedy politicians are eating away public properties. The concept is not new to Telugu cinema. We have seen such films on Telugu screen many a time. Kodi Ramakrishna and few others used to make so many films on the corruption and the solution. However, there is no impact on anyone with those films.

Director Prem Raj has once again touched the same concept and told through this film that journalists and media can bring the change in this system. The attempt is honest and they can be lauded for making a film with purpose.

Such films should never get preachy and screenplay should be breathtaking to work. Director opted for a slow screenplay and clichéd scenes that made this film a boring watch on a whole. The lead lady who is a journalist falling for a drunkard in few hours looked absurd. Polices attacking a lady journalist without even looking at her ID happens only in films. There are so many such scenes in this film which made an honest attempt go awry. Had they taken good care on screenplay, NNPV might have been a reasonable film.

Performances:

Charmi is good in few scenes and okay in few. Her performance is not as convincing as in Anukokunda Oka Roju and not as bad as in other heroine centric movies. Jagapathi Babu’s cameo didn’t have any purpose but his performance is okay though. Supporting cast is not good enough which showed the impact in few scenes.

Tehnicalities:

Paruchuri Brothers dialogues are pretty weak and show that they are completely out of form. This is the favorite genre of Paruchuri Gopala Krishna but he failed to come up with sparkling dialogs. The conversations between political leaders sounded like they are reading news bulletin. Also the conversations between Charmi and Jagapathi Babu lacked the bite. CGI work is fine for a low budget film and the VFX is fine.

Lakshmi Narasimhan’s cinematography is alright and Yasho Krishna’s music irritates most of the time. Not a single song is pleasant on ears. Production values are good. It is the director who has to be blamed for making this film in such a way. Despite using latest techniques and following current trend, he failed to make this film seem contemporary. Most of the scenes and dialogs are like they were straight out of an eighties movie.

Box office predictions: NNPV is made within a shoestring budget and the producers should concentrate on publicity to pull as much as they can.
